Pleased with the Portcullis Club
Well, we’ve had two Ballrooms in the Portcullis and I think it’s safe to say we’re happy with our new home.
Phil and Sue have been really welcoming and helpful in making this happen so thanks to them both.
I thought (as did many of you) that the first of our Porcullis nights was a little too quiet. It was fine for people listening at the front, but most of the sound was lost from about halfway back. The following week Dave and Jody and I spent an evening in the Portcullis trying out various ways of increasing the volume.
I think we’ve hit on a good solution – 3 ambient mics on the stage to boost the volume but keep the performances unplugged and acoustic. This seemed to work well last week and so far I’ve had positive feedback. If you were there please feel free to let me know what you think – email or leave a comment.
We had some great music too last week with (i think) 3 new performers. Nice one chaps!
