Pictures and Studio Ballroom

Hello all,

It’s been a pretty busy couple of months for The Acoustic Ballroom. We had the fantastic bank holiday special at the end of April, two classic Ballrooms in May and June and of course the launch of Studio Ballroom. This has meant that the pictures have not been uploaded as quickly as I’d like. Well, the gallery is now completely up to date. Hop on over and have a look.

Just a quick word on Studio Ballroom. This is aimed at 11 to 18 year olds (although if you’ve just outside that age range we won’t turn you away!). Thanks to a generous donation from Paul Simmonds Removals, I’ve been able to buy some quality recording equipment. The kind folks at the Portcullis Club in Wallingford have agreed to let me use their hall for free to set up the gear and do the recording sessions. Studio Ballroom is running on a trial basis for now. It is completely not for profit. There is a small charge to cover overheads and ongoing costs.

If you want to do a recording session you’ll have to book in – the best way is via email (ben@studioballroom.com). I will then arrange an evening for you to come along and record 1 or 2 tracks depending on time. At the moment I’ll be recording on a Wednesday evening from about 6.30pm onwards. I’m asking people for £5 per head – as I’ve said this is a not for profit project. The money will be used for any overheads and to put towards the purchase of new equipment as and when it is needed.

Studio Ballroom is open to all young people playing any kind of music. The only thing I would ask is that you have a clear idea of what you want to record.
